I am not sure exactly why I wanted to start teaching, but I have always been a fan of helping others. I did plenty of volunteer as well as paid counseling jobs, anywhere from helping kids with disabilities play basketball to working with my coaches at summer basketball camps. I enjoy making a difference in a direct way, and i feel that teaching is a way to do that. Chemistry is a subject that I personally wanted to teach, because some many people hate it. I am not a person who loves chemistry, I dont wake up every morning eating and breathing chemistry, but I find it interesting. In my mind chemistry is the way the world works, along with other sciences, but think of how much water there is, and how little we actually know about its chemical make up. All these years and we really only know about one atom and that is hydrogen. Everything else is an approximation assuming that all molecules act relatively like hydrogen. If I can teach in 20 years 2 students that will go on to become ground breaking chemists that's great, but if every year I make a difference in a few students lives then that is fine with me. I want to teach and coach basketball I guess you could say I just want to help some students stay on the right path. And I am hoping down the road I will be able to have enough schooling under my belt to teach future teachers, and then I am not only helping my students, but I am helping theirs. So I guess my inspiration is just to help out somehow.
